Headway
Insurance network for therapists and psychiatric prescribers: credentials you with major plans such as UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Cigna, Oxford, Oscar and Anthem (availability varies by state) in as few as 30 days, verifies benefits, submits claims under Headway's own NPI and pays you every two weeks, whether or not the plan has paid yet. You join as a contracted provider under Headway's Provider Agreement and bill at the rates Headway negotiates. An optional built-in EHR with AI-assisted progress notes, scheduling, reminders, secure messaging and telehealth is included at no extra cost; e-prescribing is listed as coming soon, with limited availability so far (confirm with Headway).
At a glance
- Pricing
- No subscription or membership fee; credentialing is free. Headway keeps a share of each insurance payment that varies by health plan and billing code; that share is not published. From November 2026, rolling out state by state through the end of 2026: a $9.99 fee per appointment, deducted from your payout, on every insurance or private-pay session with a client who found you through Headway's marketplace, for as long as you see that client. It does not apply to clients you add yourself, clients who book through your direct link, or clients you were already seeing before the fee reached your primary practice state. Private-pay sessions: 2.95% per session (vendor help center and fall 2026 update) (source)
- HIPAA BAA
- unverified – Headway does not publish a BAA for providers. Its HIPAA guide says Headway providers don't need to sign a BAA with Headway because they are contractors; ask Headway to confirm in writing how that applies to your practice (vendor HIPAA guide and help center) (source)
